I was born in Calumet, Michigan, and grew up in the typical yooper fashion, climbing apple trees, swimming in Lake Superior, and exploring the beautiful Upper Peninsula. I graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Graphic Communications and joined the marketing workforce.
In my current role I plan 100+ student engagements a year to engage student with the campus dining program. These events vary from small surprise events like a pop-up cookie decorating in a dining hall for 50+ students up to special dinners that engage campus partners and reach 900+ students in 3 hours. I enjoy connecting with campus departments and student organizations to plan, market, and execute each event.
I worked at Michigan Technological University for 7 years, first an Assistant Director in the Center for Educational Outreach and later as a Project Manager for the University Marketing and Communications department. Both these roles have been wonderful, and further developed my organization, communication, and event management skills. I have learned to be prepared for anything from putting out actual fires during a science festival to managing the aftermath of canceling summer programs last minute due to area flooding.
I was involved with the development of a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called Keweenaw Young Professionals. I connected to this groups mission and shared their enthusiasm for promoting the U.P. and helping professionals connect and grow through community engagement. Over the years I served as President and General Board Member and enjoyed connecting with my community, local businesses, and planning special events.
I currently am serving on the Board of Trustees for UP Health Systems Portage. I also volunteer my marketing and grant writing skills to the Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw (BHK) Community Action Agency and Western Upper Peninsula Food Bank.
Thank you for your interest! I am happy to connect to collaborate on a project or serve as a career mentor.
